COLOGNE, Germany, March 14, 2022 – Ford today announced significant strides toward an all- electric future in Europe, which will see the company transformed and offering a new generation of seven, all-electric, fully-connected passenger vehicles and vans by 2024.
Today’s announcement builds on the recent news that the company has created a new global business unit – Ford Model e – focused on the design, production, and distribution of electric and connected vehicles. Together with Ford Pro, the business unit focused on Ford’s commercial vehicle business, these two business units will define Ford’s future in Europe.
“I am delighted to see the pace of change in Europe – challenging our entire industry to build better, cleaner and more digital vehicles. Ford is all-in and moving fast to meet the demand in Europe and around the globe,” said Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO.
“This is why we have created Ford Model e – allowing us to move at the speed of a start-up to build electricvehiclesthatdelightandofferconnectedservicesuniquetoFordandthatarebuiltwith Ford- grade engineering and safety.”
With its extended range of electric passenger and commercial vehicle models, Ford expects its annual sales of electric vehicles in Europe to exceed 600,000 units in 2026, and also reaffirmed its intentiontodelivera6percentEBITmargininEuropein2023. TheaccelerationinEuropesupport’s Ford’s goal to sell more than 2 million EVs globally by 2026 and deliver company adjusted EBIT margin of 10 percent.
“Our march toward an all-electric future is an absolute necessity for Ford to meet the mobility needs of customers across a transforming Europe,” said Stuart Rowley, chair, Ford of Europe. “It’s also about the pressing need for greater care of our planet, making a positive contribution to society and reducing emissions in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.”
Together, these efforts will support Ford’s global plans to significantly reduce carbon emissions. The company today announced it is targeting zero emissions for all vehicle sales in Europe and carbon neutrality across its European footprint of facilities,logistics and suppliers by 2035.
Following the successful European introduction of the all-electric Mach-E in 2021 and Mach-E GT this year, plus the launch of the E-Transit in the next quarter, Ford today unveiled plans for seven all-electric vehicles to join the Ford family in Europe – three new passenger vehicles and four new commercial vehicles.
Starting in 2023, Ford will begin production of an all-new electric passenger vehicle, a medium-sized crossover, built in Cologne with asecond electric vehicle added to the Cologneproductionline-upin 2024. In addition, Ford’s top-selling passenger vehicle in Europe, the Ford Puma, will be available as an electric version made in Craiova, Romania, starting in 2024.
Reaffirming its leadership as Europe’s top-selling commercial vehicle brand, Ford’s iconic Transit range will include four new electric models – the all-new Transit Custom one-tonne van and Tourneo Custom multi-purpose vehicle in 2023, and the smaller, next generation Transit Courier van and Tourneo Courier multi-purpose vehicle in 2024.
“These new Ford electric vehicles signal what is nothing less than the total transformation of our brand in Europe – a new generation of zero-emission vehicles, optimized for a connected world, offering our customers truly outstanding user experiences,” said Rowley.

Paynes of Hinckley has been a household name in this area since the early 1900's and is still family owned to this day. We take a great deal of pride in our heritage and impact on our local area, so when we were approached by the Mary Ann Evans Hospice we couldn't think of a more worthy cause to support. The Hospice's trusty old Transit van had served them well in recent year's but was starting to show it's age, and as such, it was overdue an upgrade. We are so pleased to have been able to help out the Mary Ann Evans Hospice with the supply of their New Transit Custom, which will hopefully give them many years of reliable service in it's new look livery.

Healthcare product specialist AAH describes its new PharmaVan as a “temperature-controlled warehouse on wheels”. The unique van, using the Ford Transit platform, is the result of nearly two years of design, testing and development. It includes an insulated cargo area, temperature-controlled storage for drugs such as paracetamol, as well as a fridge for drugs like insulin. There is also a secure drugs locker, live feed temperature monitoring, plus a live alert system which sends out emails in the event of a temperature deviation. Other features include an audible deviation alarm for drivers, six security cameras, a driver panic alarm and telematics. The van also delivers lower CO2 and better fuel efficiency than the firm’s old model. A total of 340 new PharmaVans have been delivered since December 2015 and a prototype jumbo version of the Transit will be built shortly. AAH is also investing £12m in the product over the next four years. Judges said the van is “leading-edge technology for the van sector” with impressive levels of “innovation, security, and driver safety”.
Paynes of Hinckley have just supplied the Mallory Park race circuit with a Transit van to be used as a recovery and breakdown vehicle for the many events that Mallory organise during the year. Nigel Payne, Director of the family owned Ford dealership based in Hinckley explained, "We have been associated with Mallory Park for over 40 years and so when Stuart Hicken asked if we could help with the long term loan of a vehicle to assist them, we were more than happy to help".

Paul Hartshorn has just retired from the position of Service Advisor in the Car Service Department here at Paynes of Hinckley after nearly 50 years of loyal service.
Paul joined the company at the age of 16 in 1967 and has held a variety of positions in the company, all centered around Car Service. Paynes is the only company Paul has ever worked for.

Paul is now looking forward to a happy retirement, spending his free time, bicycle riding, fishing and spending more time with his two grand children, Gracie and Katie.

Ford has designed a bicycle that can be stored within the body of your vehicle. The bike will be made up of components that can be found within your vehicle, such as the spare wheel that will be split into two bicycle wheels, the car jack that will make up the pedals and the headrest which will be used as the seat.
This innovative, forward-thinking design by Ford has been patented. The design has been specifically created to help motorists living in busy cities, where parking can be difficult, to get around. The bike could also provide an emergency mode of transport for motorist, if they were to run out of petrol.
The patent reads: 'The bicycle includes components that can also be used in a vehicles such as a car, truck or sports utility vehicle'. The patent then goes on to detail how some of the various car components could have dual uses, preventing the car from being weighed down by heavy bicycle parts.
In 2013 Ford announced it had signed a deal with folding bicycle maker Dahon. Perhaps the two firms will be working closely to create the world's first interchangeable mode of transport, in the form of a car and bicycle. One thing's for sure - We can certainly expect exciting things from Ford in 2015.
The all-new Ford Transit range returned from this year's Van Fleet World Honours laden with five awards, including the overall Van Manufacturer of the Year for the Blue Oval for the second successive year.
There were awards for the recently launched Transit Connect, which won both Best New Van and Best Small Van categories, and for Transit Custom, which was judged Best Medium Van and also won the Security Award. The Ford Ranger earned Best Pick-Up.
Ford Transit has a long history of success in the Fleet World Honours, which are presented by the trade publication to manufacturers, service companies and individuals who have achieved the highest possible level of excellence in their sector. It is the fifth year in a row that the Transit family has been recognised.
At a special awards ceremony at the Royal Automobile Club in London's Pall Mall, Van Fleet World Managing Editor John Kendall said of Ford's Van Manufacturer of the Year title: “Not a difficult choice for the judges given the comprehensive renewal of Ford's van range that is still going on. To date they have all been class-leading to drive, too, which makes Ford a worthy winner."
Receiving the awards for Ford, Phil Hollins, director fleet operations, said: “In little over a year the market-leading Ford Transit range has been renewed and expanded to four models, from the new compact Transit Courier and Transit Connect, through Transit Custom to Transit, with its cargo capacity of more than two tonnes. It is a range of commercial vehicles of which Ford is justly proud, and we are delighted to receive this recognition."
Best New Van, Best Small Van – Ford Transit Connect
“Transit Connect has taken a massive step forward this year," said Dan Gilkes, Editor of Van Fleet World, “offering increased load volume and carrying capacity, complete with some innovative load carrying solutions, such as the load-through bulkhead and fold-flat passenger seat. There have been changes under the bonnet, too, with the downsizing of engines from 1.8 litres to more fuel-efficient 1.6-litre diesels, and the unusual offer of the award-winning EcoBoost petrol engine. Service intervals have been extended and Ford is hoping for a five per cent residual uplift, lowering ownership costs for fleets. Perhaps most importantly for drivers, though, the Transit Connect remains a cracking van to drive."
Best Medium Van – Ford Transit Custom
“Medium Van was an easy win for Transit Custom last year as it moved the game forward significantly both for Ford and for the competition. A wide range of carrying capacities and load volumes, with the addition this year of the high-roof models, has kept Custom more than competitive. However it is the driving experience that puts Transit Custom above the chasing pack," said Dan Gilkes.
Security Award – Ford Transit Custom
“Transit Custom's high level of security equipment as standard provides fleet managers with the confidence that neither their vans nor their contents are going to fall prey to thieves. When the cost of crime and its effect on insurance is taken into account, effective security is becoming an increasingly high priority for fleets and Transit Custom is a clear winner here," said John Kendall.
Best Pick-Up – Ford Ranger
“A great all-rounder in the pickup sector, the Ranger offers a wide range of drive options and body styles and is one of the few pick-up trucks that can be fitted with a tachograph," added John Kendall.

At a handover ceremony held on the Isuzu Truck stand at the recent CV Show at the NEC, ITUK's Managing Director Peter Murphy received the award from Trade Van Driver's editor Matthew Eiseneggar.
Now in their third year, the TVD Awards aim to give recognition to the manufacturers who, in the opinion of the judges, offer the very best to retail van buyers. In choosing the winners for each category, the entrants are not only judged by journalists from the publication, but also by a panel of readers who use light commercial vehicles as part of their businesses.
“For the Grafter to be recognised for a third consecutive year as the best in its class is tremendous news for us. The vehicle is the workhorse of many businesses involved in the construction and landscaping industries. To be recognised by its peers is further testament to the overall popularity of the vehicle," commented Keith Child, marketing director at Isuzu Truck.

FORD COMMERCIAL VEHICLE RANGE HAS RECORD AWARDS YEAR
Ford’s commercial vehicle (CV) range has collected more than 25 top awards in the last 12 months – more awards than in any other year.
The all-new Ford Transit Custom led the plaudits, winning 13 awards, including International Van of the Year 2013 as well as ‘van of the year’ accolades from VansA2Z, Auto Express and What Van? titles.
Ford Ranger – launched in 2011 – continues to impress, winning three ‘best pick-up’ awards and overall International Pick-up of the Year in 2013, while the latest Ford Fiesta Van – which accounts for nearly 60 per cent of its segment sales – was awarded two ‘best small van’ accolades.
Ford also claimed two awards for the overall ‘van manufacturer of the year’ from Fleet Van and Van Fleet World publications.
